YOGA AND PILATES CLASSES

 

Vinyasa Flow

This challenging Western style of Ashtanga yoga focuses on linking movement with breath for an invigorating body-mind workout.  It is physically a more strenuous and fast-paced form of yoga, training the cardiovascular system, flexibility, strength, and balance.  This class offers variations, making it perfect for intermediates and advanced Dubai yogis - be prepared to sweat!

 

Hatha

This class is great for not only beginners, but also for the experienced practitioner who wants a more gentle, slow-paced, meditative yoga experience.  Asanas (poses) are held for longer lengths of time, thus enhancing muscle tone, flexibility, and a peaceful mind.  The end of class is devoted to practicing breathing and relaxation techniques. Level I: Introduction to poses and breathing - ideal for beginners. Level II: Intermediate class building on the basic postures introduced in level I.

 

Power Yoga

This power yoga class is a vigorous variation of a vinyasa-flow class intended to provide a full body work-out.  The focus is on increasing muscle strength through holding poses for a longer duration thereby increasing stamina and toning the body.  This in an intermediate level class, intended for students with a average to good level of flexibility and fitness.

 

Pre-natal Yoga

Our prenatal yoga class offers many benefits to expectant mothers in Dubai.  Yoga strengthens the uterus and pelvic muscles, increases flexibility, balance, and coordination, improves circulation, aids in digestion, and exercises the spine, thus alleviating many common discomforts. Our class is specially designed for all stages of your pregnancy, with special modifications for each trimester. NOTE: students should be past their first trimester before joining a prenatal class

 

Pilates (Reformer/Machine)

The Reformer pilates machine uses resistance springs to increase the intensity of Pilates mat based exercises. The exercises you wil be taught on the reformer will increase the toning capacity of Pilates, as well as improving your posture, core strength, flexibility, muscle tone/ contouring and body awareness. These classes are for everyone and are divided into levels to accommodate everyone. The reformer aids in lengthening the muscles further, leading to an even more toned body. In each class, you will be taught a set of exercises that work the body as a "whole".

 

Mommy & Baby Yoga

A perfect way to stay in shape and spend quality time with your baby. While strengthening the spiritual, emotional and physical bond between parent and baby, classes assist the development of your baby's motor skills. Mom-Baby Yoga will help carry you smoothly through the busy early months of caring for a new baby, using interactive, slow-moving postures. These classes help women regain strength and energy that may have been lost during pregnancy. 

 

Pilates (Mat)

A pilates mat class is based on systematic mat and equipment based exercises. Each class is designed to improve your posture, core strength, flexibility, muscle tone/contouring and body awareness. This is done by focusing on core stability, including pelvic and shoulder girdle stabilization, neutral alignment and patterned breathing. Pilates mat classes aid in restoring the natural curves of the spine, relieving tension and enhancing self-confidence. With regular practice, the outcome can be a more balanced and aligned body that looks fit and healthy, leaving "you" feeling revitalized and healthy!

 

YogaKids!

This class blends basic yoga poses with special activities that not only build coordination and concentration, but also stimulate your child's verbal, spacial, and artistic skills. In this playful environment, kids discover that yoga is fun, feels good, and that taking care of their bodies is easy!

 

Yogilates

As the latest trend in the Yoga/Pilates scene, Yogilates is now being offered in Dubai by Zen Yoga. Yogilates combines the core strengthing of Pilates with the calming stretches of Yoga. You will gain suppleness, build long, lean muscles, improve the quality of breath, all while enjoying the stress-relieving benefits of Yoga practice.

 

Meditative Yoga

Experience your deepest emotions and highest consciousness with Meditation Yoga. This is a technique for everyday life and all people. It works for you if you can breathe and move your body. These ancient teachings emphasize that it its our birthright to be happy, healthy and holy. Meditation Yoga works with postures, breathing, hand positions and sounds to stimulate the energy that flows through your spine and make it rise until it reaches the top of the skull, activating the pineal gland, thus producing a major change in consciousness.

 

Ashtanga

The Asthtanga Primary series is a series of postures in logical sequence designed to open and strengthen the body. Each posture is an introduction to the next, and joined together with the breath to create a rhythmic experience. Combined with some Vinyasas, this class creates warmth in the body and focuses on core strength.

 

Sivananda Yoga   *new!*

An international hatha yoga style excellent to build strength while staying calm. The sequential repetition of asanas linked with the breath has an effect on the physical, psychic, physiological and spiritual level.

 

Yin Yoga   *new!*

You may have heard of the ancient concepts of yin and yang – forces which apply to all opposites; from cold and hot, to calm and excited. Many of us veer towards Yang, living each day in the fast lane. The same can be said our yoga practice, which often focuses on creating heat and energy to achieve better muscle strength and flexibility. By concentrating on long holds, Yin Yoga delves deep into the body’s connective tissue, the very “shrink wrap” around our joints that often feels impossible to lengthen. Adding a little Yin to your week not only provides the perfect compliment to a dynamic practice, it will also serve to add a little balance to your life!

Prenatal Pilates   *new!*

With Prenatal  pilates we celebrate your Pregnancy through conscious movement and low impact exercise. Its a great way to stay in shape during your pregnancy. Prenatal pilates has proper modifications to accommodate all stages of pregnancy and levels of fitness but overall its a well rounded work-out focusing on toning and strengthening the arms, thighs and buttocks. Learning the principles of centering, concentration, control, precision, breath, and flow will help you during your pregnancy and the birth of your baby. The practice of Pilates during your pregnancy will also strengthen your abdominal, back, and pelvic muscles to assure that your pregnancy and labour are more comfortable. It is best suited for those who want to workout through-out their pregnancy.
